"Wait, is it a Multivan or a Caravelle?"

Meet your driver: Bart

Services and history

Hello, I’m Bart.

If you’re looking for a tour guide who combines genuine local knowledge with a deeply ingrained appreciation for an orderly queue and a decent cup of tea, you’ve come to the right place.

I was born in Poland but have spent the last 21 years living in England. This means I occupy a unique cultural space where I can fluently navigate the history of Lower Silesia, while simultaneously apologising to inanimate objects I bump into.

The idea for VanBart has been brewing in the back of my mind for a good decade. Why? Because I genuinely love driving. For over 15 years, my office was the cab of an HGV, driving across the UK and Europe, often transporting vital equipment for motorsport and events companies.

It was a fantastic career, but truck cabs can be notoriously quiet places, and I, unfortunately, have the gift of the gab. I love meeting new people and having a good chat, which is tough when your only company is a tachograph.

My time in logistics wasn't wasted, though. I’ve been rigorously trained in safe, defensive driving (including the globally recognised 'SMITH' defensive driving system or more locally FORS training). What does that mean for you? It means I’m professionally qualified to ensure your coffee doesn't spill when we go around a corner. I guarantee your ride in the Multivan (as it's also known as Caravelle) will be significantly smoother, quieter, and smell better than my old 18-wheeler.

When I’m not behind the wheel, I’m usually obsessing over Formula 1, diving deep into WWII history, or seeking out obscure countryside towns that aren't on the usual tourist trails. I also used to be quite a serious homebrewer of craft beers. These days, as a young dad, my hobbies mostly involve listening to audiobooks at 1.5x speed while performing domestic duties or when driving...

At the moment, VanBart is an owner-driver operation. This means when you book, you get the boss behind the wheel. I look forward to welcoming you aboard, showing you the incredible sights of this region, and almost certainly waffling on about history until you ask me to turn the radio up.
